Three-time podium finisher in the UMOSPOC Kabalega rally and businessman Hassan Alwi jr is the latest driver to join the annual Africa Kwetu Fuel Economy Tour.
The fifth edition of the Africa Kwetu tour to take place on September 4-7 will cover 1000km through the districts of Wakiso, Mukono, Jinja, Iganga, Mbale, Kapchorwa and Moroto.
Alwi, the International University of East Africa ambassador joins corporates including Shemmy Ssenkaatuka of Worldwide Movers, TIO travels and Tours, Karlman of Prime Minister’s office, Rose Foam, MJ Investments and Alex Kikonyogo.
Over 22 crews have so far registered for the prestigious tour that had its primary role of promoting the brand of motorsport, Road safety, local tourism and environmental conservation.

The tour dubbed the Great Eastern and Northeastern Tour follows the previous two editions held in Northern Uganda in 2022 and 2023 which came after the inaugural editions in 2020 and 2021 that covered the western parts of Uganda.
Tendo Mutale who has been the event manager since its inception in 2020 made it clear to UMOSPOC media right from the beginning that they are committed to supporting the government in promoting domestic tourism.
“We are out for a noble cause that is supported by the government, and we shall not give up until the Ugandans get to understand the advantages of driving safely on roads, touring their country and protecting the environment,” Mutale noted last year.
And that is what drives the people organising the annual tour that has turned out to be the biggest tour in the country.
Notable on the list of entrants so far is FIA Road Safety ambassador and former Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) president Dusman Okee, Former UMC president Badru Ssembuya and John Burrows Lumu.
The event is organised by Nostro Africa and sponsored by World Wide Movers, TIO, Ministry of Health, Prime Minister’s office and NRM archives.END.
