KAMPALA — The long waiting is finally over. On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) officially adopted a revised constitution that fully complies with the 2023 Sports Act of the Republic of Uganda.
During an Extraordinary General Meeting held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala, delegates representing over 75 percent of the districts in Uganda unanimously adopted the new amendments to the previous June 2025 constitution.

Key Constitutional Amendments
The key changes ratified in the new constitution include:
Grassroots Structures: Establishing clear organizational structures to manage and develop motorsport right from the grassroots level.
Name Restoration: Reinstating the official name “Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda.”
Anti-Doping Policy: The official adoption of strict clauses that completely prohibit doping in the sport.
Legal Dispute Resolution: Introducing clauses that strictly ban members from taking sports disputes to civil courts, directing all conflicts through proper sports arbitration instead.

The Catalyst for Change
The United Motorsport Club (UMOSPOC) initiated this constitutional overhaul. The club filed an official amendment proposal just days after the initial June 2025 constitution had been adopted.

UMOSPOC had raised concerns over several loopholes in the previous document, citing:
Article 1: A total lack of proper definitions.
Articles 6, 6a, and 6d: Ambiguities surrounding membership guidelines.
Articles 9 and 10: Flawed procedures regarding the expulsion of members.
Articles 16 and 19: Failing to specify how district representatives should be elected.
Furthermore, UMOSPOC pointed out a lack of clarity regarding who qualifies as part of the electorate. They subsequently proposed additional amendments in accordance with Article 82 (3) to ensure total transparency.
