Ronald Sebuguzi won the just concluded UMC Fortportal Rally in the Tourism City and he should be celebrating breaking a five-year jinx without winning that rally.

However, the victory has mounted pressure on the three-time national champion who has now turned his focus on a fourth national title.

“It is good we won in Fort Portal, and we are second on the national standings. It is now possible for us to win the National Rally championship this year,” Sebuguzi said after the rally.

The UMOSPOC driver co-driven by Anthony Mugambwa is a ford Fiesta Proto have now turned their focus to win the Gulu Rally due October 11-13 in Gulu City.

The Shell-V-Power fuelled driver has now 203 points, 22 points behind table leader the Equity Bank ambassador Dr. Mustapha Mukasa (225 points) while Jas Mangat popularly known as Pili Pili is third with 200 points.

With only two races remaining, the standing has made this year’s race to the NRC crown stiffer and more competitive than ever before.

Sebuguzi won the rally, snatching from UMOSPOC clubmate Joshua Muwanguzi who had beaten him with a minute on the opening day of the rally.

Muwanguzi was in pain as his car broke the drive shaft while in full command of the rally with much hope of winning it.

“This rally has pained me. I had already won this rally, but what happened threw us out and we have to wait for the next event,” he said with pain.

The event was graced by the Omukama of Tooro Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV who was driven in Sebuguzi car and later drove his Subaru Impreza.
