Saturday and Sunday in Marrakech FIM Africa Motocross of Nations

The National Motorcycling team captain Stav Orland is confident his charges will return glory at home after the FIM AFRICA Motocross of African Nations (MXOAN) in Morocco.

The two-day championship gets underway on Friday October 25,2025 morning with registration and scrutineering of bikes the following day will be practice and heat 1 in Marrakech, Morocco.

Countries including Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Uganda, Ivory Coast, Namibia, hosts Morocco are all focused on dethroning defending champion South Africa who is aiming to win it again.

Uganda has lined up a 27-man team strong enough to bring the trophy home.

Some top racers including Jonathan Katende (65cc), Waleed Omar (MX2), Maxime Van Pee (MX1), Pascal Kasozi (MX85) Ron young (MX125) Asaf Natan (MXvets), Alon Orland (MX125) and Jeremiah Mawanda (MX2) are out of the team but those on it are enough to carry the flag.

Yes, they have done it in 2012 when they won the continent event in Busiika, and went on again to beat South Africa in the 2016 edition in Kenya when the team finished second to the hosts.

In these two events Uganda fielded a full team of 40 riders, the highest squad ever but this year Uganda is fielding 27 squads that are more aggressive and experienced.

They competed in the continental event last year in South Africa where they underperformed coming fifth, behind South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia.

However, it is going to be a different story according to team captain Stav Asiimwe Orland.

Fortune Sentamu, Milton Akaki, Jude Musede, Wazir Omar, Gift Sebuguzi, and team captain Stav will challenge the South Africans and other opponents from other countries.

With almost the same number with the biggest rival South Africa Stav notes that they have competed with the South African before and they are ready for the challenge.

“We know South Africa has a strong team of racers including Dalton Ventor and Rick Ruff, but we are equipped with a winning mindset because we have ever beaten them before,” Asiimwe said.

“The time is now. We waited for this time of the year and we came into the championship with one mindset to win,” the MX2 defending champion added.
