It has been a year of no motocross show in Luwero district. The community has been wondering what happened to the number one motorcycling home in the country.
The construction of a helicopter landing pad at the place where the track was made worsened it all as many fans thought, it was the end of the Era for the most exciting sport in the world for them.
However, after some time their prayers were answered, and Uganda Motocross Club returned to its original home.
The Saturday June 22,2024 was an answer to their prayers and indeed attended in big numbers.
The community parking yards felt the presence of motocross as they were filled with cars and motorbikes for the fans that turned up for the event.
On the track the riders gave fans exciting moments that have never been witnessed in any event before.
To remain with those exciting memories, the fans pulled out their phones to record a moment he or she will always be watching at leisure.
The crowds braved the hot dusty day and cheered their favourite racers nonstop making the event co-sponsored by Mountain Dew and Shell worth its billing.
Motocross racers Malcom Gift Sebuguzi (MX125cc), Ramathan Mubiru (MX65cc), Solomon Winyi (50cc) Jerome Mubiru (MX85cc) Fortune Sentamu (MX1), Milton Akaki and Waleed Omar (MX2) showed class during the event that was the fifth round of the National Motocross championship.
Sebuguzi to represent Uganda in the junior world championship next month was a class apart overlapping his opponents in the six in the combined MX125 and Veterans classes.
His closest challenge Dan Mitima will have to work harder and step up his game if he is to win any race.
“It was a very hot and dusty day, but the track was good for riders to give their best,” Ronald Sebuguzi, the father of the gift noted.
“The track was redesigned to reduce the speeds of riders, but it is technical and adds skills to riders making it to remain the best track in the country,” Sebuguzi added.
In the 65cc class, the crowd favourite Ramathan Mubiru was on fire beating his traditional rival Jonathan Katende who finished third behind Isaac Mitima.
It was a wheel-to-wheel battle in all the three heats with Mubiru winning two heats and finishing second in another to total 57 points, while Mitima won the second heat and finished sixth in the first heat and second in the last heat.
It was another exciting race for juniors in the 50-cc class as Solomon Winyi, Eadric Musede and Abigail Katende battled it out. In the second heat Musede relaxed for seconds and Winyi overtook him at the finish line.
That caused him to finish second overall behind Winyi who pooled 54 points, two ahead of Musedde (52) and Katende came third with 50 points.

However, the fireworks were in the combined class of MX1 and MX2 class. Whereas Fortune Sentamu was in his own league. The battle between Waleed Omar and Milton Akaki.
It kept the fans in tension as each would not be sure whether his racers returned in another lap in the lead.
The event manager Denzilanta Balidawa lauded the officials for a job well done, especially the Cite lap recorders for being on top of their form.
“I thank the lap recorders because even when the system crashed, nobody realised it because everything was on time,” She noted.
