The Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) holds it is assembly at Silver Spring Hotel today Saturday, February 3, 2024.
However, the questions at stake are, is it legal or illegal, after all the flying letters of injunction from the court, and the advisory letters from both the senate and the board of trustees arising from the Geoffrey Nsamba Court Petition?
What are the activities of the AGM today and are they legal or illegal?
The dilemma is that the mandate of the management led by Dipu Ruparelia expires today, however, that of the executive continues.
In the matter that an interim committee cannot elected, there are fears that there shall be a power vacuum and the activities of the federation may stall.
It sounds real but there are options as delegates head for the assembly this morning.
The first option is to assume that the management mandate expired but that of the executive is still on. So, the Executive can hold power temporarily and then organise the elections in a year’s term of office.
There is also another option of handing over the power to the executive with the supervision of the senate and trustees who shall letter organise the election in the shortest period possible.
The other option should be the extension of the term of office for the sitting management so that they can organise the election either after the court ruling or before the Court ruling which is in a month.
However, the success and stability of the FMU will depend on the sanity of the delegates and the will to protect the image of the sport.
With the legal committee comprising brilliant legal brains, the delegates should be composed and consume the legal advice of the team led by Counsel Dennis Musedde
The impunity of we condemn the opposition and hang Geofrey Nsamba, should not be the face of the delegates today, but wisdom to stabilise the sinking ship.
