Complying and aligning with the new 2023 sports act is top of the agenda for the federation of motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) in the 2026 calendar season.

However, in doing so, FMU has put into consideration the welfare and grievances of the competitors both in Motorcycling and rallying.

On Saturday Febuary 21,2026 at Kati-Kati the federation management held symposium at Kati-kati Restaurant where they explained to the drivers the objectives behind the 8 events with an event in each region.

Despite s9ome resistance from other drivers saying that eight events are many considering their financial stand others say that it is okay to have more events as long as other facilitation of the drivers is considered.

Rally driver Ambrose Byona popularly known as Omunyeeto said,” Let them make them even 10 events as long as they facilitate us.”

He concurs with the FMU management that whereas running the sport is very expensive. It, must also align with the sports Law which requires the sport covering 75 percent of the country.

FMU is set run eight championships in eight regions of the country but considering only seven to score the championship.

With the new design this means that Acholi region, Bunyoro region, Central Region, Teso region, Eastern region, Western region, Southern region and Rwenzori region in Kasese Fort portal will get events.

These events are also going to be used to build structures for both the district associations and regional committees for the development of the sport and fulfillment of the sports law that requires each federation to have leadership in each of the districts in the 75 percent coverage.

Failure for the federation to achieve that will mean deregistration and thus the sports will not be held.

END.
