There is relief in the Motorsport fraternity following Wednesday February 26,2025 mediation meeting between FMU and Nsamba reach agreement to have IGG unfreeze the Federation accounts.

The two parties also agreed to agreed to have other matters concerning the constitutional ammendments be taken to the constitutional review committee .

The IGG had freezed both accounts of the Federation following a whistle blower Geoffrey Nsamba who had concerns that the leadership of Hon Jimmy Akena was illegal and is not fit to manage the sport.
He also alleged that the process that brought Hon Akena in office was null and void thus Akena is managing the accounts of the federation illegally.
The former rally driver further went on to stress that the management of both Dipu Ruparellia and Jimmy Akena has misused funds.
According to the consent agreement the IGG shall unfreeze the account and order to NCS and ministry of finance and FMU shall withdrawal the case from court at its own costs.
However, the IGG shall continue investigating the matter on the misappropraiation of funds.
“IGG shall continue with investigations of financial Impropriety in the management of the FMU funds and we shall unleash the full force of the Law should we find an impropriety,” the IGG letter read.
The consideration of the IGG to unfreeze the accounts was based on the image of Uganda, the affected riders and drivers and the sporting events that were being affected including the Pearl of Africa Rally.
