For decades the residents of Soroti and Katakwi districts have never witnessed any motorsport activity in their region.
However, as sports leaders curse the 2023 sports Law that has dictated them to spread their discplines to 50percent of the disctrict of Uganda for an association and 75percent for the Federation, many Ugandans are celebrating this new law.
On october 31,2025, Motorsport was embrased in te districts of Katakwi and Soroti as the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) held activities in region as aprecursor to more active events next year.
Motocross riders and rally drivers excited the residents as they had an exhibition in the Katakwi town. FMU general Secretary Reynold Kibira noted that the exhibition was to see if the region is ready for the sport and indeed it is.
“We are excited to have such huge turn up of fans and we hope that from them we can get future champions,” Kibira said.

“We came here to do an exhibition and also as a way of sending a message to our line minister that we are with him in promoting the sport in this country,” Kibira said.
