Organising an opening event of the championship is always challenging and, in most cases, many use that event to address their weak areas to better the organization.
However, that was not the case with the just concluded United Motorsports Club (UMOSPOC) Autocross in Bunjako.
Apart from the time management challenges that were beyond the organizers’ control, the event lived up to its billing and other organisers will find it hard to match.
Right from the trophies, planning, and safety arrangements were all at the NRC level and have left many club officials wondering if they will match the level of organization UMOSPOC set.
Twelve crews battled it out in the tricky and adventurous tight route that ended with Hassan Alwi as the winner of the event which was the opening Autocross of the five on the FMU calendar.
How did UMOSPOC do it?
To start with, was the commitment of the Organisers UMOSPOC to put up an event that is worth the standards required by the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) a body that regulates the Motorsport in the country.
That coupled with the teamwork of the organizing committee and the cooperative and supporting officials from FMU, made it happen.
Financial strength:
The sh9.8m big push by the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) helped in the facilitation of departments including, Safety Marshals, Time Marshals, Ambulances, and together with the Club partners, Sandline Beach, Worldwide Movers Uganda, TIO Tours, and Travel and made work easier for the officials to carry out their duties easily.

Local Council Leaders & other Authorities
The support from the local council leaders in the area, the Police, and UPDF made work very easy for the organizers,
Hassan Alwi, the two-time UMOSPOC Kabalega rally winner navigated by Musa Nsubuga, posted the fastest time of six minutes, 42.20 seconds, 1.60 seconds to win the autocross and was followed by Musa Ssegaabwe.
The event, which was the first round of the Autocross Championship, registered tremendous success as it ended incident-free and with no complaints from participants and officials.
The event that was supported by FMU, Worldwide Movers Sandline Beach Bunjako, and TIO Travels and Tours had Twelve crews turn up for the event held at Sandline Beach on Bunjako Island in Buwama Mpigi District.
Autocross is a training rally that is used by upcoming rally drivers to get used to the conditions of rallying as a sport and is also used by experienced drivers to test their cars ahead of a competitive competition.

Alex Kikonyogo, the proprietor of the beach assured the organizers of United Motorsports Club (UMOSPOC) of his continued support, adding that he will contact the local council authorities so that more roads are opened for a full rally.
