The SMC Challenge rally in Masaka on Saturday and Sunday April 13-14 in Great Masaka has become tougher and unpredictable considering the entry list.
Third one crews including three-time National Rally Champions Jas Mangat and Ronald Sebuguzi, 2019 champion Yasin Nasser,2022 champion Byron Rugomoka, 2010 champion Nasser Mutebi, Ponsiano Lwakataka and Jonas Kansiime have confirmed their participation.
This makes the event more unpredictable on who will emerge the winner as all are targeting maximum points from the second leg of the seven national championship events.
With the regular rains, 228.98km of wet, smooth and tight stages, the two-day rally calls for skills and strategy.
On Saturday the crews start off the rally with the 18.08km stage before heading to the 26.92km Worldwide Movers Stage from which they go for service and then head for the 2.68km super special stage.
After the service park they will head to rest in preparation for day two on Sunday that will see them engage their machines in the same stages to be repeated with SMK Tyres Power Stage as the finale.
Jas Mangat navigated by Enock Olinga in a Hyundai i20 leads the log with 60 points but are closely marked by Jonas Kansiime in second position with 53 points and Ponsiano Lwakataka 49points in third position.
They will face opposition from Peter Kalule, Joshua Muwanguzi and Ibrahim Lubega.
The event sponsored by Worldwide Movers will cover the Greater Masaka regions that comprise the districts of Kyotera and masaka and Rakai.
